Deadline for Registration for the 2020 LAUP Career Fair, Both Students & Vendors is February 13, 2020!

Vendor Information

To register for both Career Fair and Aggie Workshop, please follow the necessary links provided to the right. We also encourage all vendors to fill out the “Firm / Student Matching Form”. In order to guide students towards firms and organizations based on employer interests and expectations, we have created this matching system which will allow vendors to set broad filtering criteria for interviews. Although this matching system is only a suggestion, it will help to better streamline the interview process by allowing firms and organizations to find students that fit their specific, professional needs.

Student Information

Portfolios will be reviewed by both a board of professors as well as professionals within their respected fields. Portfolio Review will be held on February 6, 2020, with 2 sessions:  8-10am and 5-7pm. These are highly recommended, if participating in Career Fair. This is to ensure that both you as a student as well as the Department of Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning are represented to their greatest potential.

Although Career Fair is free of charge for students, Aggie Workshop will cost $35 for upperclassmen and a discounted price of $25 for undergraduate freshman in the LAUP department and LAND 111 students, which will cover breakfast, attendance to lectures, lunch, design charretes, and lastly the evening mixer. To register, please follow the necessary links provided to the right.

Event Information

Thank you for your interest in attending the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning’s Annual Career Fair and Aggie Workshop. This year the career fair will be held on February 20th and the Aggie Workshop will follow immediately on February 21, 2020. You may choose to sign up for both events or just one, however, attending both events will result in the most well-rounded and complete exposure to both potential employees and employers. A brief description of each day can be found below. We look forward to seeing you!

Career Fair is not only a rewarding experience for students, but also employers. By attending the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning’s Annual Career Fair employers will gain easy access to fresh talent, increase brand awareness within the field and have the opportunity to network with other professionals. The day will begin with a breakfast mixer where students and potential employers can casually mingle before interviews begin. Formal interviews will occur before and after lunch. Career Fair will be invaluable to both students and employers for future growth within the industry.

The 2020 Aggie Workshop is going to be a unique, collaborative, and educational experience that will bridge the gap between landscape architecture, urban planning, agriculture, ecology, and Culture. The Aggie Workshop will contain a panel of speakers, including Suzanne Turner, Dwight Bohlmeyer, and Shane Hardy, who will discuss their different fields of study and how they can relate to landscape architecture. Building off of the panel, we are going to have a presentation by Thomas Woltz, who is recognized nationally for his expertise in regenerative agriculture. Following lunch, Sterling Morris will be doing an illustration session that will get the creative juices flowing while encouraging audience participation. To end the day, we will be doing a design charrette based on a 7,000-acre project in Egypt, TX that Nelson Byrd Woltz has graciously provided. This design charrette will be a great opportunity for students and professionals to get a chance to collaborate in a relaxed setting. This is going to be a jam-packed day full of new experiences and hopefully a fresh perspective on landscape architecture.
