Graduate Admissions

Thank you for your interest in our graduate programs. Please read all admission pages in their entirety before starting your application. Prospective students must use  Texas A&M University GraduateCas to apply for the programs at the department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning.

Admission to the graduate program is based on evidence of promise of high scholarly achievement and research orientation. The applicant's statement of purpose, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test results, letters of recommendation, and examples of past work constitute the basis for the admissions evaluation. Further, to ensure the highest level of faculty support and proper level of faculty guidance, the program accepts those students whose design/research interests match areas of specialized faculty competence. Students are encouraged to identify faculty whose interests coincide with theirs in their statement of purpose.

Because of the many challenging circumstances arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning is not requiring/accepting GRE testing for applicants to master's programs in LAUP. Please check with each program to see which foreign language testing is required.

The PhD in URSC program still requires the GRE scores. If you are in a country that has limited access to the test, we will allow waivers on a case-by-case basis. If you are waived from the GRE and an international student, you will be required to submit alternative testing to prove English proficiency.
